From Your Parents Heart

We loved you from the very start,
You stole our breath and embraced our hearts.
Our life together has just begun,
You're part of us our little one.
As mother with child, each day I grew,
Our mind filled with thoughts of you.
We'd daydream of the things we'd share,
Like late-night bottles and teddy bears.
Like first steps and skinned knees,
Like bedtime stories and ABC's.
We thought of the things you'd want to know,
Like how birds fly and flowers grow.
We thought of lessons we'd need to share,
Like standing tall and playing fair.
When we first see your precious face,
We'll pray your life be filled with grace.
We'll thank the angels from above,
and promise you our unending love.
Each night we'll lay you down to sleep,
We'll gently kiss your head and cheek.
We'll count your fingers and little toes,
Memorize your eyes and perfect nose.

We'll linger at your nursery door,

Awed each day that we love you more.
